When should I have plastic surgery? At Cincinnati Plastic Surgery, this is one of the most common questions we hear. Depending on the procedure you’re interested in will help give you an answer to the question. We’re known for a number of different plastic surgery procedures and are here to help you determine the right plastic surgery procedure for you.
What’s Your Reason for Having Surgery?
One of the questions you should ask yourself before having surgery is what your reason for it is. If you’re generally unsatisfied with something about yourself, such as the size of your breasts, appearance of your nose, or you feel like you look too old, those are some of the reasons to have plastic surgery. However, if you go into the consultation thinking that the surgical procedure will help you look like your favorite celebrity, plastic surgery won’t help achieve that.
Your age is almost always a factor in when you should have a specific procedure. At Cincinnati Plastic Surgery, we typically don’t perform many of our procedures on teenagers. When people are teenagers, their bodies may not be done developing yet. Having a surgical procedure to fix something when you’re younger may impact growth down the line. There are also some procedures we don’t recommend for when people are much older just because it can negatively affect the final results of the procedure.
Your weight is another factor to consider. Many of the procedures we perform do not help you lose weight. Depending on your procedure, you should be at or near your goal weight, especially if you lost weight to prepare from the procedure.
Depending on the procedure you want, the season depends on when you should get it. Because it’s January, now is the perfect time for a lot of our procedures because you’ll have plenty of time to recover. But, for instance, if you wanted a Brazilian Butt Lift, the summer would not be the ideal to have the procedure. Procedure recovery time means you likely will need to recover for a few weeks, so summer wouldn’t work.
Whether You Want More Kids
A Mommy Makeover procedure helps moms get their pre-baby body back. With this procedure, you’ll want to make sure you don’t have anymore children. Nothing bad will happen if you do end up getting pregnant again, but it will impact the results from the first procedure and mean that you’ll need another procedure down the line to get the same results from the first procedure.
Ultimately, answering the question of when should I have plastic surgery is entirely subjective. That being said, there are definitely times when Dr. Martin will perform a procedure and times that he won’t. if you’ve been considering plastic surgery, turn to the surgeon other surgeons go to. Since 1996, Dr. Martin has performed different plastic surgeries for both men and women in Cincinnati. Want to have a certain type of procedure? Schedule your plastic surgery consultation today.
